ABSURDITY
The goal of this project was to create a series of unusual portraits, each representing in their own way the theme of Absurdity. It needed to be made in a very limited color palette, as the goal was to produce lino cuts out of them, which would then be used to make merch.
I approached this project by doing a lot of sketches, since I wanted this series to feel fresh and new. More than half the work consisted of drawing everything that came through my mind in my sketchbook, and then interpret my own work to produce final illustrations. I let my mind wander freely, and simply followed it without judging. I took this project as a challenge to come back to drawing like a child, and I think my illustration definitely have that feel to them.

Le but de ce projet était de créer une série de portrait sortant du commun, chacun représentant le thème de l'absurdité de manière unique. J'ai du utiliser une palette de couleurs limitée, puisque l'objectif était de créer des coupes lino a partir de ces illustration, celles-ci destinées a la création de marchandise.
J'ai approché ce projet en produisant une grande quantité de croquis, puisqu'il était important pour moi que cette série évoque la nouveauté de la fraicheur. plus que la moitié du travail consistait a dessiner tout ce qui me venait a l'esprit dans mon carnet de croquis, et puis ensuite interpréter mes propres esquisses afin de les transformer en illustrations complètes. J'ai laissé mon esprit explorer, et le suivait sans jugement. J'ai vu ce projet comme un défi, celui de redevenir un enfant, et je crois que cet état d'esprit transparait dans mes œuvres.
I tried to express a variety of emotions, using them as sub-themes for my illustrations, the goal being to give each piece its own identity and language. I wanted my portraits too belong to the same universe, while being vastly different one from another. Each drawing goes in its own direction, yet they still feel like a series.
J'ai essayé d'explorer une multitude de sentiments, m'en servant comme sous thèmes pour mes dessins, le but étant de donner a chaque pièce sa propre identité. Je désirait que toutes mes illustrations appartiennent au même univers, tout en étant grandement différentes. Chaque portrait prend une direction différente, mais ils se lisent malgré tout comme une série cohérente.
